The fruit is stored in conditioned storage to deliver the fruit all the year round. For short-term storage mechanically cold stores are used. This means the temperature is lowered. For long storge ULO (Ultra Low Oxygen) cold stores are used. In these ULO cold stores the temperature and the oxygen is lowered. By lowering the oxygen the ripening of the apples and pears is been delayed. Fruvo B.V. has a storage capacity of over 7 milion kilo divided over 45 cold stores. The cooling systems are supplied by Hougkoeling. Fruvo B.V. cools also other products (grapes, melons, carrots, leeks etc.) for third parties.
